Alberta Stone - One of a Kind

Split Rock Memorials was created by best friends Catlin Pierce and Aymi Gislason, bringing together two different skill sets with the same goal: creating memorials that are personal, meaningful and built to last.

Made From Alberta - Made to be Remembered

Alberta Rock - Made by Albertans

Catlin Pierce

Brings over 16 years of experience in monumental masonry. His experience cutting, polishing, engraving, painting and installing stone is what started the idea behind Split Rock Memorials.

After years in the trade, he wanted the freedom to create memorials in his own way — and to give families another choice when it comes to remembering someone they love.

Aymi Gislason

Brings her experience in graphic design, helping turn ideas, memories and personal details into artwork that can be transformed into a lasting memorial.

Together, their skills allow Split Rock Memorials to combine traditional stone craftsmanship with modern design.

Why We Do It

Our natural stone memorials begin with something that already has a story of its own — a natural granite boulder.

We source our stone less than 10 kilometres from our shop in Alberta. From there, we cut, polish, design, engrave and finish each memorial right here in our own shop.

We believe a memorial shouldn't have to look like everyone else's. The shape of the stone, the artwork, the lettering and the details can all come together to create something that reflects the person being remembered.

No two boulders are the same, which means no two of our natural stone memorials are exactly the same either.

About Split Rock Memorials

What makes this work special to us is knowing how long it can last.
The people who commission our memorials won't be here forever. Neither will we. But the stone can remain for generations — sometimes for hundreds of years.

Long after we're gone, someone may walk past a memorial we created and see the name of someone who mattered deeply to a family.
We think that's pretty incredible.

Our goal isn't simply to make headstones. It's to take a piece of Alberta stone and turn it into something worthy of remembering someone by.
